The Bible and How to Read It
We've had great group conversation about spending more time in God's Word. I just wanted to send you some ideas on how to develop habits that will grow your walk with the Lord! Here are a couple of tips:
- Download the YouVersion Bible App. This APP is awesome as it allows you to read whatever version of the Bible you like, as well as contains several reading plans you can sign up for. And you can do it all on your phones! Because teens like phones!!
- Sign up for a devotional. I personally recommend a devotional by a teacher named Skye Jethani, whose devotionals you can find HERE. In order to get the devotional, he asks for a donation, but you don’t have to do that. You can just email him at the link provided and he will let you sign up for free. The YouVersion Bible app also has a large number of devotionals that range in length from a few days to an entire year!
- Set your alarm ten minutes before you usually do and read a chapter of the book of Luke. Start in chapter 1 and read as much or as little as you can.
- Whenever you go to bed, spend time reading scripture first.
- If you have down time: Rather than browse Facebook, Twitter or the Internet, pull up your Bible app and read for a bit.
Again, these are just ideas to help you understand and relate to God on a deeper level. Ultimately, nobody is going to force you to read the Bible--that has to be something you decide is important enough to do on your own. You either value it enough to do it, or you don’t. Jesus is waiting for you to get to know him...the next move is yours.
